Spectrum of action
As a soil herbicide Fen 240 EC inhibits specific enzyme, Protoporphyinogen oxidase, which leads to accumulation of phototoxic heme and chlorophyll precursors, which in presence of light produce activated oxygen species. These oxygen species disrupt membrane. Sunlight is essential for the performance of Oxyfluorfen. Depending on the climatic conditions, the effect of Fen 240 EC is up to 7-8 months.
Fen 240 EC works by delivering both contact pre- and post-emergence control. It controls actively growing weeds and also forms a soil barrier to block the establishment of emerging weeds in grapes, sunflower and pome fruits for an extended period of time.
Instructions for use
Fen 240 EC should be applied as a ground spray directed at the base of crop plants. For optimum residual weed control, Fen 240 EC should be applied to the soil surface prior to weed emergence after all other agricultural operations have been completed, such as mechanical cultivation and re-shaping of irrigation furrows. The area should be left undisturbed during the time period for which weed control is desired. When applied to seedling weeds, they should be young and actively growing.
